While he was Director of Security Forces, Brigadier General Robert Holmes suggested to the Air Force Security Forces Association that we establish an Air Force Security forces Foundation. Drawing on his background with the Special Operations community, he asked that we address the needs of Security Forces members and their families.
With the continued support of the Major General (then-Brigadier General) Mary Kay Hertog, who succeeded Gen. Holmes as Director of the Security Forces, the Foundation became a reality and is a chartered non-profit Texas corporation under IRS code 501(c)(3). All donations are tax-deductible.
The Air Force Security Forces Foundation is sponsored by the Air Force Security Forces Association. ASFF does not have paid employees or a big office facility to maintain which means that virtually all donations will be used to assist Security Forces and their families. This is a unque approach to helping our troops. With the ops-tempo remaining high and deployments a regular occurrence, the pressure on the family increases daily. While the ASFF is not intended to provide "Big Money," it can Grant small amounts of money that could make the difference between a happy outcome and family turmoil. This is what is meant by "Taking Care of Our Own"
